Kitchen Edit: remodelling the hub of the home

We were appointed to remodel the hub of this busy family home. Our brief was to create a timeless, multi-tasking space with a transitional Californian inspired style and a contemporary edge.

This warm, light-filled kitchen is the heart of a much-loved family home. It’s a space that now supports the rhythm of busy everyday life while offering a place to slow down and connect.

Our clients came to us as part of a whole home renovation and this ‘kitchen edit’ celebrates the most important room in our clients’ home. The existing space wasn’t working hard enough; there was limited space to cook, gather and to store things the way our client’s wanted - especially for a client who is also a professional chef. They needed a kitchen that would support day-to-day family life, but also perform beautifully when hosting or preparing food to a high standard.

Our role was to reimagine the kitchen within a newly extended footprint, with a focus on space planning, organisation and purposeful design. We carefully considered appliance placement, created tailored zones for prep and cooking, and introduced generous storage for everything from cookware and serveware to family-friendly essentials.

The overall design was inspired by a relaxed Californian country chic aesthetic, blended with understated industrial touches for depth and character. We combined this with British-made products and craftsmanship to ensure quality and longevity throughout, from bespoke cabinetry to fixtures and finishes.

A central feature island became the heart of the space, providing both practicality and presence. Bespoke cabinetry was designed around the family’s specific needs, with thoughtful internal layouts that make it easy to stay organised, even in a busy home.

The result is a beautifully calm, intuitive and hard-working kitchen. A space that not only feels welcoming, but meets the needs of a professional chef — all without compromising on softness, flow or style.
