Pantone Colour of the Year / by Studio 28

Pantone recently announced their 'Colour of the Year' and for the very first time they have selected not one but TWO colours! Rose Quartz and Serenity are the chosen colours for 2016.

"JOINED TOGETHER ROSE QUARTZ AND SERENITY DEMONSTRATE AN INHERENT BALANCE BETWEEN A WARMER EMBRACING ROSE TONE AND THE COOLER TRANQUIL BLUE, REFLECTING CONNECTION AND WELLNESS AS WELL AS A SOOTHING SENSE OF ORDER AND PEACE." - Leatrice Eiseman, Executive Director Pantone Color Institute

Consumers want to soothe chaotic lifestyles and remove themselves from the stresses of modern day life with environments and colors which psychologically fulfill our need for reassurance and security. We adore these beautiful 'Colour of the Year' inspired photos which create a sense of release and well-being.

Some may view pastel pink and pastel blue as colours for a younger generation but these colours can be both fun and young as well as sophisticated and soothing. When used together, Rose Quartz and Serenity provide balance between a warm embracing rose tone and the cooler peaceful blue 'reflecting connection and wellness as well as a soothing sense of order and peace'.

For a more timeless and sophisticated scheme, we recommend using them as an injection of soft, subtle colour in a space combined with a neutral backdrop such as grey or deep midnight blue.
