Looking Both Ways / by Studio 28

Our previous article reviewed Pantone's Colour of the Year, but this week we're blogging about another colour trend prediction for 2016 and this time it's a brand whom most of us have welcomed into our homes at some point... Dulux.

Dulux have announced their Colour of the Year for 2016 as 'Cherised Gold' with an overriding theme of 'Looking Both Ways' .

“GOLD AND TONES OF GOLD ARE BEING USED EVERYWHERE IN THE DESIGN WORLD, SO FOR 2016 'CHERISHED GOLD' IS A NATURAL EVOLUTION FROM 'COPPER BLUSH', LAST YEARS' COLOUR OF THE YEAR... THIS OCHRE INSPIRED HUE WILL OFFER THAT LITTLE TOUCH OF GLAMOUR TO OUR INTERIORS"  - Rebecca Williamson, Senior Colour Design and Content Manager

'Cherished Gold' is bold enough to attract attention and create a feature but it's also a warm earthy tone introducing a calming softness. The colour works brilliantly with a host of other tones and colours.

How to introduce gold? We've gathered some inspirational shots which show how you could introduce this glamorous colour to your interior - both boldly and subtly...

2016 is about ‘Looking Both Ways’. A year of combining both traditional and modern in our colour schemes. Dulux have identified a colour which connects both of these trends; Gold appears in both our heritage and our future. Key trends for 2016 have an element of gold in them yet gold featured in the original paintings of old masters hundreds of years ago.

Dulux carefully selected a yellow tone which best represents the golden influence of the coming year’s colour trends. They chose a golden yellow, which has been translated into a gorgeous ochre and in our opinion is a warm, welcoming, glamorous colour which we should all welcome into our interiors!
